How to use the time calculator
Enter the first length of time in days, hours, minutes and seconds, choose add or subtract, then enter the second. The result is shown in days, hours, minutes and seconds, and as a total in each unit, so you can paste it straight into a timesheet or spreadsheet.
How it works
Both times are converted to seconds, added or subtracted, then converted back. There are 60 seconds in a minute, 3,600 in an hour and 86,400 in a day, so values such as 90 minutes are carried over automatically to 1 hour 30 minutes.
Common uses
- Adding up the length of several videos, recordings or workouts
- Working out how much time is left on a project or a trip
- Converting a duration such as 2 days 6 hours into total hours
To find the time between two clock times, use the hours calculator. To count days between calendar dates, use the date calculator.
